Focus 1: Femme Friendship and Sisterhood (Spring 2023, Spring 2024)

In Spring 2023, ENLT 226 will focus on the concept of “Femme Friendship and Sisterhood.” The texts covered in this section, which were published within the range of over two centuries, feature girls and women whose lives are impacted by other girls and women who are their blood relatives, close friends, or “found family.” Some of these characters stay close to one another, while others must leave or grow distant to help their families and friends. Through it all, they are affected and defined by these relationships, for better and for worse.
